you mentioning humility and Zen got me to thinking about the concept of surrender and how that can bring peace to one’s life…..and, in a related way, about an old Dylan song where he says ” deceived me into thinking that ive got something to protect”
Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now

I think humility and a confidence to drop your guard go hand and hand…..i mean really, what do we have to protect?
